Quick Calculation

Fast sizing and output checks for pricing, feasibility and repeat plot types.

Quick Calculation — representative deliverable
Overview

Quick Calculation

Sometimes you need a defensible number in an hour, not a full calculation set in a day. Can this build-up deliver what the room needs? Roughly what manifold size? Is the flow temperature in the right region for the heat pump the client has already bought? These questions come up during pricing and site visits, and waiting on a full design blocks the conversation.

Quick Calculation is scoped for exactly that. Sizing and output checks on established assumptions, with the assumptions listed, returned within hours. It is not a substitute for a BS EN 12831 set and we never present it as one — the deliverable says so on its face.

Where the quick check shows the job is marginal, that is useful information in itself: it tells you which plots need real engineering before you commit to a price.

What you receive

Every item below is issued in your own template, with your layer conventions, title block and revision scheme.

  • Indicative heat requirement by room or area
  • Achievable floor output check against the proposed build-up
  • Suggested pipe centres and indicative loop count
  • Indicative manifold size and port count
  • Flow temperature range assessment for the intended heat source
  • Assumption schedule stating everything taken as given
  • Flag list of rooms or areas needing full calculation
  • One-page summary suitable for a pricing conversation

Frequently asked

No, and we mark it clearly to prevent it being used that way. Building control, MCS submissions and anything contractually binding need the full BS EN 12831 set. Quick calculation is for pricing, feasibility and early conversations.

Within a working day, usually within a few hours. If it is needed for a call that afternoon, say so and we will prioritise it.

Yes, and the fee is credited against the full calculation if you upgrade the same project. The quick check has already gathered most of the input data.

Typical values for the construction era, the specified system and the region, all listed explicitly on the output with a note on how much the answer moves if they are wrong. Nothing is assumed silently.
