Pipe Loop Drawings

The loop drawing is what the installer holds while kneeling on a screed base. If it does not show pipe centres, circuit numbering, loop length and where the pipe crosses an expansion joint, those decisions get made on site — and the balancing schedule that was calculated for a different layout stops meaning anything.

We draw loops properly. Centres vary within a room where the calculation requires it, typically tightening in the perimeter zone. Loop lengths are kept within the pressure drop limit for the pipe diameter and reported per circuit. Every circuit is numbered to match its manifold port, and pipe crossings at doorways and movement joints are detailed rather than left to improvisation.

Where the room shape makes a clean serpentine impossible — and in real buildings it often does — the layout is resolved on the drawing rather than described in a note.

Whichever the situation calls for. Counterflow spiral gives a more even surface temperature and suits large open areas; serpentine is easier to install and better for narrow or awkward rooms and for perimeter weighting. We choose per room and note the reasoning where it is not obvious.

By splitting the room across multiple circuits with the division drawn on the layout, and by adjusting centres so each circuit's pressure drop stays inside the limit for the pipe diameter. Loop lengths are reported per circuit so the balancing schedule matches what gets installed.

Yes, with the sleeving detail and the crossing position dimensioned. Uncontrolled crossings at movement joints are one of the more common causes of later failure, so we do not leave them to the drawing note.

Yes. Send the heat loss schedule and required outputs and we will draw to them. We will sanity-check the numbers as we go and raise anything that looks inconsistent, but the calculation basis remains the original designer's.
